more than 200 year old Masia. This old Spanish farmhouse was used for the
wine production. Together with the natural environment, the big swimming
pool, delicious food and drinks, Mas Xipres is the ideal holiday destination.
During the day tapas or salads can be served, and for the evening Hetty
likes to cook one her beautiful menus. Living in the wine area the masia
serves a very good wine. The little church has recovered its original function.
Many people of different nationalities have experienced their wedding or

Mas Masaller
is a 13th-century farmhouse reformed in 2010, located in Cruïlles,
next to La Bisbal d’Empordà, at the foot of the Gavarres Hills (declared
an Area of Natural Interest). The ground floor of Mas Masaller still displays
all of its original layout of stables. The wine barrels are integrated
into the dining-room located in the part renovated in 2010. Outside
the house, in what was formerly the vegetable garden, there is now a garden
of some 500 m², fully enclosed by a stone wall and containing the
house’s well and plant nursery. Mas Masaller has 6 bedrooms (doubles, triples
and quadruples) with a total capacity for 15 guests. In keeping with the
general style of Mas Masaller, the decoration of the bedrooms is sober
and elegant, with a predominance of the old furniture of the house, suitably
restored and updated.

- A municipality at the centre of Baix Penedès county,
it has an area of 12.14 square kilometres and is located in the Penedès
plain surrounded by hills and mountains. Of interest are the remains
of Banyeres castle, although all that is now left of it is a semi-ruined
tower of circular ground plan with irregular ashlars some twelve metres
high. All who speak of Banyeres mention the old Om (elm tree) which lends
its name to the square in which it stands. Nowadays people dance the traditional
Catalan sardana beside it, build human towers for the Main Festival there
and adorn the square for the Christmas season. |

30km south of Barcelona, is definitely the highlight of the Costa Daurada
- the great weekend escape for young Barcelonans, who have created a resort
very much in their own image. It's also a noted gay holiday destination,
with a nightlife to match; indeed, if you don't like vigorous action of
all kinds, you'd be wise to avoid Sitges in the summer: staid it isn't.
As well as a certain style, the Barcelona trippers have brought with them
the high prices from the Catalan capital, while finding anywhere to stay
(at any price) can be a problem in summer unless you book well in advance.
None of this deters the varied and generally well-heeled visitors, however,
and nor should it, since Sitges as a sort of Barcelona-on-Sea is definitely
worth experiencing. |
